Eight teams finished the toughest VAKE we've had so far. We saw a lot of minor injuries and gear-failiure this year, and lost a lot of teams along the way - but you still get your positions! Despite the (for some) disappointing results - you are all warriors and are more than welcome back!!.
All 37 teams of VAKE 2016 are now gathered in Berlevåg for the last preparations before Varanger Arctic Kite Enduro starts April 5th at 10:00. Walking-start this year, hard snow cover, wind reports looking good - this could be a fast race! Follow the teams live here. Or visit a checkpoint! We're also on www.flickr.com/vakefinnmark and on Instagram and Twitter @vakefinnmark.
Team Sweden - with Simon Jaktlund new team member Ulrik Larsson Götzmann - almost repeated last years success at Votteskaret today when they came in 2nd in VAKE 2015 - World Championship in long distance kiting. Suprised themselves - they did't know they were second when they arrived! Great birthday present for Ulrik Larsson Götzmann. CONGRATULATIONS!

At 7:45 this morning, Upsete, Thomas Sørensen & Per Store from Norway, reached Vardø finish with a good margin on the other teams in the lead. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WORLD CHAMPION TITLE!! We know this victory is very welcome, and it is very well deserved, as Upsete has been right up there for years and had some bad luck last year that put them out of race when in a leading position..
